Your Project Checklist

What the buyer must confirm

Property and land use

Confirm zoning regulations, setbacks, density, and placement rules.
Verify that the intended residential, rental, commercial, agricultural, recreational, or office use is permitted.
Review HOA, deed, community, and private-use restrictions.
Check flood zones, wetlands, easements, and other site constraints.

Permits and professionals

Obtain all required building, placement, trade, and occupancy permits.
Hire locally licensed engineers, surveyors, contractors, or other professionals when required.
Schedule and pass required inspections before use or occupancy.
Keep written approvals, stamped plans, receipts, and inspection records.

Site, foundation, and access

Confirm foundation and anchoring requirements for the property.
Verify truck, crane, unloading, staging, and emergency-access clearances.
Arrange grading, drainage, clearing, excavation, and site preparation.
Confirm who is responsible for unloading, placement, assembly, weather sealing, and installation.

Utilities and final use

Confirm water, sewer or septic, electrical, HVAC, and other utility availability.
Use qualified local contractors for compliant utility connections.
Do not occupy or use the structure until all required approvals are issued.
Confirm the final written quote clearly identifies included and excluded work.
